BE INSPIRED: MOVING FROM POTENTIALS TO PERFORMANCE

(TEXTS: PROV. 18:16, PROV. 22:29)
In moving from potentials to performance, you need to understand the following:
(a). God’s gift to you is your potentials while your gift back to God is the performance of those potentials to benefit humanity.
(b). The market place does not pay for potentials but for services(Performance). Potentials hold no much value until they are converted to performance!
(c). Like in the parable of talent in matthew 25:14-28, God expects us to profit maximally with our potentials. God doesn’t expect us to return the potentials back to him without profits.

So how then can we move from potential state to performance?

ACTION STEP 1
BE AWARE OF YOUR INNATE POTENTIALS:
Potentials unrecognized become potentials unused and potentials unused becomes potentials unrewarded!
The awareness of what you carry is what sponsors how you carry yourself. You cannot convert to performance the potentials you are not aware of. What are the potentials that you know are resident in you? Have you ever taken time to ask yourself, what can I do effortlessly? What do others struggle to do but comes to me easily? Once you have discovered your potentials, it becomes easier to decide to move from potential state to performance state! Make up your mind not to enrich the cemetery with your rich potentials.

ACTION STEP 2
COMMIT TO MASTERY:
There is a myth that geniuses are cut from a different piece of cloth; that peak performance is a matter of genetics. However, the truth is that geniuses are ordinary people with extraordinary commitment to mastery in their chosen fields. Great performers whether in sports, Arts, Sciences, Politics, Academics etc. are individuals with relentless sense of practice; they practice more than their contemporaries. They out-practice others in their chosen fields. Peak performance therefore is a matter of relentless practice and not genetics. As a teenager, in order to come out tops in your academics and be a shining example to your peers, you must practice longer and more than every other student in your class.
When you practice like Michael Jordan you cannot but have the results of Jordan in your academics. When you practice like Lionel Messi you cannot but end up being a global icon in your academics.
The quality of your practice reveals the caliber of your performance. It has been said that people get rewarded in the public for what they do in the private. So how well you practice when no one is watching determines the quality of your performance in the full glare of all.

ACTION STEP 3
RISE WITH THE SUN:
In my study of great individuals who made and are still making great impacts in their generations; one notable feature stands out- the ability to rise with the sun! Peak performers in any chosen field are early risers. They are not a people overcome by sleep. In order to convert your raw potentials into performance, you must learn to rise with the sun! “The earl hours of the day have gold in their mouths.” – Ben. Franklin
Rising up early in the day is NOT a gift but a skill anyone can learn. With diligence and persistence, you too can learn to wake up at 4am or 5am every day.
Rising with the sun has awesome benefits:
(a). The early hours of the day set the tone of the day. If you can get it right at that point, you will have a great day, the reverse is also true!
(b). you are at your best at that time. Your will power is strongest, your mental focus is clearest; your determination to have a great day is at its best!

ACTION STEP 4
CHOOSE YOUR FRIENDS WISELY (Prov. 13:20):
Your Peers drive your performance. The people that you surround yourself with determine the events of your life. Your academic results reflect the quality of people you have around you academically. Who are the people that you read with? Who make up your discussion group? Remember, in order to be effective in life, you must be selective especially in the area of your friendships. Eagles don’t flock together neither do lions. In order to end up on the throne you must be selective as to who you allow into your life. You will succeed!  Make up your mind to move from potentials into peak performance!
