#POETRY:
The giant of Africa
One over four of the entire
African continent,
One over eight of the entire
world black race
A nation endowned with more
than 20 natural resources;
Nigeria! Indeed is the
backbone of the blackrace.
Why o why would a nation like
this
Choose to be bathing in abject
poverty
Counted among the most worlds
corrupt nations
Listed among the world’s
undeveloped nations
Regarded amongst the world’s
poverty stricken nation
Oh! This is sheer
contradiction
A mockery at our civilization
Why would a nation, naturally
endowed ,
Writhe in continuous poverty
Something is wrong somewhere.
O! compatriots, why do we
fool ourselves
Our problems lies in our
palms
Our leaders have the
solutions
Yet some pretend to find solutions
Deceiving us with different
unfruitful policies.
The Labour of our heroes past
To see a freed generation yet
unborn
Painfully is being thwarted
daily
Only us can help ourselves
No foreigner or foreign aid
is able.
Fellow Nigerians, remember
your National pledge
Big and small, we have all
vowed it
‘to be faithful, loyal and
honest’
Whether you are the president
or the farmer
In your daily deeds, fulfill
your vow
You will then see a changed Nigeria
