National Youth service Corps
The Most Successful national
scheme
A scheme that spanned through
twelve months
Whose Significance cannot be
ignored.
Members of the scheme
Highly respected spirited
individuals,
Go through the programe with
diverse activities
A twenty one days of fun
amidst challenges
Most prominent among its
activities
Jogging, drilling, sporting
and cooking
The orientation camp
A solid rendezvous for
graduates in the country.
There comes the fun, “Otondo
Corper”
The pain, “endurance trek”
Even the friendship, ‘give me
your phone”
Three weeks of fun, pain and
friendship drifted to an end.
Then comes the second phase,
Place of primary assignments,
Some people cry, still some
rejoice
Definitely, such is life
But under the sun and in the
rain
They had pledged their
sincere loyalties
To the upliftment of their
fatherland
The dream and hope of every
Nigerians
The end of it all, the climax
After all the built up
crescendos
The passing out parade
The final activity in the
scheme.
As corps members joyfully
receives certificate,
What confront them is the
future
Whether they’ll quickly make
it or not
Nothwitstanding, the
beginning of independence has begun.
