There's an interesting tree in the far East called the Chinese Bamboo.
It's such an amazing tree as it teaches us quite a number of life lessons.
According to the American Geographics, in the first four years of its planting,
the Bamboo is just a little feet high up the ground.
The farmer at this time may get discouraged because despite the constant wetting and tendering, the height is nothing to show for.
But record has it that those who quit wetting and tendering the Bamboo tend to lose the tree as the tree gets to dry up in the ground.
However, if the farmer persists in wetting and tendering, in the fifth year the Bamboo becomes as tall as 5 to 6 feet tall.
This is when record is about to be broken and history rewritten.
In the 6th week of the 5th year, the Bamboo turns around to be a wonder to everyone around as it shoots up to 90 feet in the air!
The question that begs asking is: When did the Bamboo grow up to be 90 feet, is it in 5years or 6weeks?
The answer is simple: in the first 5years!

So what are the lessons you and I can learn from the Bamboo?

1. Take time to develop your roots...
All the while I the first five years of its existence,  the Bamboo takes time to develop its roots deep down in the earth crust.
The shoots may look stunted this time but the roots needed for anchorage is been developed.
So dear friend, What's the lesson here?
Take time to fine tune your character...the real man is the character not his reputation.
Your character in the words of the great Evangelist D.L Moody is who you are in the dark when no one is watching!
As a teenager, I heard that my charisma (shoots) may take me fast to the top but only my character (roots) will sustain me.
As i grew older I understood that better.
Nothing sustains height like depth! As in a building, the height is at the mercy of the strength of the foundation.
So work on your core values, be a principle centred individual.

2. Be patient and engage in consistent actions.
Never be in a hurry, if you must birth a lasting legacy.
I know my generation is often called the quick fix age, the jet age, the indomie age etc.
Talking about our quest for speed at the expense of depth.
But if you must tower high like the Bamboo,  you must be patient and engage in persistent actions.
A wise man once quipped that consistency is the hallmark of Champions.
The Bamboo must be constantly wet and tended in the first 5 years if it must end up as 90 feet in the 6th week of the 5th year.
There's no short cut there...you must pay somehow...you either now and play later or you play now and pay later.

Great mentor Jim Rohn used to say..'there are two kinds of pain in life; the pain of discipline and the pain of regret.
The former weighs pounds while the latter weighs tons.'
Dear friend, do you know that what you will become you are gradually becoming?
A little done from time to time amounts to a great wealth someday.
Your journey of success is in your footsteps of success.
So what daily baby steps are you taking for you to end up there?
What disciplines, what daily rituals? What habitual investment?  What daily or weekly destiny building rituals?
You just must give something to become somebody...you can't afford not to pay!
Start today if you haven't started,  keep at it, if you have begun...
You will get there someday and your sacrifices wont be painful anymore but gainful thereafter...
Hope you have learned from the Chinese Bamboo?

Go ahead and internalise these principles and watch your results soar in the air!
Yours in motivation,

Eagle.
