Uncommon Elevation (Part 2) By Rev. H. Duro -Aina

God has crafted you for the top. Eph 2:6, Deut. 28:13. In retrospect , we have seen Vision, Responsibility, sacrifice and hard work as factors that determine elevation.

In addition, it is pertinent to note that Revelation, wisdom and service are also among the factors that determine elevation.

However, in this message we shall be considering another four factors that determine elevation.

Factors that determine Elevation:

1  1.   Attitude: Attitude is the sail of destiny. It determines  the direction and the acceleration of every man’s destiny. Attitude determine altitude. You can never be greater than your attitude will take you. Philippians 2:5. Humility or Pride are both attitude that attracts or repel. So how do you rate on the scale of attitude? When you carry on long face every time, your journey to the top becomes long. What happens around you is not as important as what happens within you. Thomas hardy said, “Every man is where he is, by the law of his being.” Joseph was promoted from prison to the Palace because of good attitude, his attitude was tried.

A glass of water filled halfway can be described differently by two people thus: the first may say, the glass is half filled, while the other may say, its half empty. Each of these descriptions is simply as a result of how they see life and things.

How to develop Positive Mental attitude:
a.   Think good of yourself: 2cor. 10:12. Stop comparing yourself with others; because this will only make you see the good of others and make you unhappy, instead concentrate on the good qualities or gifts you possess.
b.   You must remind yourself that most things are possible if you tried hard enough
c.   Grooming: Your appearance affects your feelings, therefore try to look good, so as to boost your self confidence .
d.   Stay upbeat: Don’t allow others to bring you down. People might say different things about you, but bear in mind that its their opinion.

e.   Smile: Research says smiling makes you happy. A wise man also said, Smiling increases your face value. Whether you are happy or not, let smile radiate on your face.

2  2.   Self Development:   People grow up, they don’t go up. It is those that grow up that stay up. So commit to lifelong learning. You can’t be a leader if you don’t learn. 2Tim 2:15. Build your capacity and develop yourself to give you a competitive advantage. Prov. 1:5. If you are not getting better, you are getting worse. If you want to upgrade your life, you must update yourself. Everyone at the top study 2 to 3 hours just to stay ahead. George Bush( Former American President) once said he had reading competition with some of his friends in cabinet and he beat them all. Even governor of Lagos State Babatunde Fashola always display depth of Knowledge each time he is interviewed, you will hear him mention all the roads in the state to be repaired kilometer by kilometer. This comes by indepth knowledge. If you want to be known, you need to know.

3  3.   Extra Mile: Extraordinary people are made on the extra mile.           Matt 5:41. The extra mile means doing more than you are paid for or required to do. The law of extra mile hinges on this abbreviation: QQMA- Quality, Quantity, Mental attitude. Extra mile brings you out of the pack.

Effects of this Law:
a.   It will  bring you to the attention of those that will give you opportunity to rise
b.   You will excel in your line of work.
c.   It provides contrast between you and others.
d.   It improves your personality
e.   It improves your power of imagination.
f.    It inspires personal initiatives.
g.   It creates Self reliance.
h.   It helps you master procrastination which is the thief of success
i.     People respect your integrity

4  4.   Never ever give up: Those who give up, don’t go up in life. Persistence is the key to success. It takes resilience to stop into Prominence. 1Cor. 15:58. All great achievement requires time and persistence. Persevere because the last key in the set of keys maybe the one that will open the door. Keep at it. Everything great usually start small. The journey to success is always uphill. It’s an endurance journey. It is better to endear than to dare. Mathew 24: 13. It takes the hammer of persistence to drive in the nail of success. Selah!
