OBASANJO HAILED OVER SON’S ROLE IN FIGHTING INSURGENCY
Mustapha Adamu Shafa, a Maiduguri based civil servant said Obasanjo deserves commendation because not all influential people would allow their children to be posted to Borno, Adamawa and Yobe States.
“Obasanjo is a statesman who deserves our respect because he believes in the unity of Nigeria. Ordinarily, he would have used his influence as a former army general and former president to ensure that his son is posted to a safe location.
“We know that many politicians whose children are in the army and serving in the North-east have influenced their redeployment to other locations because they don’t want anything to happen to them,” Shafa said.
Maimuna Aliyu, a resident of Biu, also thanked Obsanjo for having Nigeria at heart.
“Among all Nigerian leaders, Obasanjo is one man who remains consistent in lending his voice to the happenings in the North-east. He has made many interventions in searching for a solution to the protracted Boko Haram insurgency. I am happy that his son survived the wickedness of the Boko Haram. The lesson for all of us now is that this fight must be fought collectively, irrespective of status in society, religion or tribe,” she said.
