TEXT: Mathew 5:13-14,
“You are
the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness
be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and
trampled under people’s feet.
You are the
light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
INTRODUCTION
Life
becomes interesting when it is lived to impact on the lives of others. A life
that is lived on oneself is really a small package.
A
successful life is designed to be a world changer! In order to live a highly
impactful life, you must strive to become a world changer.
What
does it mean to be a world changer?
1.
It is to live a life whose influence goes
beyond you and your immediate environment.
2.
It is to live beyond your time. Such that
after you have gone, the storm of time cannot erase your marks in life.
3.
It is to live a life of great effects in
audio-visual dimensions. There’s something to hear about and to see about you.
4.
It is to be a person of global influence. A
person whose influence is not limited to his locality.
The Making
of a World Changer…
a.
START WITH YOURSELF FIRST!
The starting point of all changes is internal;
any lasting change must begin from within. You can never be a world changer
until you have changed yourself.
The change you want to bring to the
world must begin with you.
For you to set out as a city sweeper your
own door step must be clean first of all.
I once read the story of a man who on
his death bed was lamenting his failed life dream of changing the world. When
he was much younger, he had a dream of changing the world, but as he grew
older, the world wouldn’t change.
At that time, he changed his dream to
changing himself but it was already too late as a result of his old age. The
man admitted he could have started by changing himself, so he would have become
an example to his immediate family and then to his community and eventually to
his city, nation and ultimately the world!
The lesson here is: you can’t change
the world until you have changed yourself first of all.
b.
HAVE A GLOBAL VISION
One major key to becoming a world
changer is to possess a global vision.
It takes a global vision to cause a
global effect in the world! Without vision a man of great potentials ends up in
great confusion.
Vision is the capacity to see
tomorrow before it ever arrives.
It is navigating into the waters of
the unknown in order to arrive at a preconceived destination.
Vision is the capacity to see
Alabama, United States of America from Alaba Lagos Nigeria.
It is seeing Bangkok Thailand from
Bariga Lagos Nigeria.
You are doomed without a dream.
Life booms when a dream is in place.
It is seeing with the eyes of no
limit!
It takes a global vision to register
a global impact in life.
c.
DEVELOP MULTIPLE COMPETENCIES
Being a world changer demands that
you develop multiple competencies that will create unprecedented platforms for
you in the world.
We live in the 21st
century that is characterized by unprecedented opportunities and accelerated
changes. In order to take full advantage of these you must be a person of
multiple competencies. Being good at many things is a major edge at such a time
as this!
Competencies are worked at and not
wished for. With consistent baby steps, you get better at them on a daily
basis. It’s just like learning how to drive or play the musical keyboard. Some
other competencies could include learning another language, learning to play
another musical instrument, learning one skill or the other.
Go for multiple
d.
RELEASE YOUR GIFTS
In proverbs 18:16, the Bible says ‘The gift of a man makes room for him and
brings him before great men.’
Your gift is your lift to rule the
world. There’s something invested in you by God to cause a change in the world.
It’s your gift!
Yours may be a musical CD album or a
book, a drama, a movie written by you etc. It is the release of your gift that
guarantees your capacity to change the world.
Remember, potential unexpressed today
turns to pain tomorrow!
e.
YOU NEED THE POWER OF GOD
“But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost
is come upon you: and you shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in
all Judea, and in Samaria and in all uttermost parts of the earth.” Acts 1:8
The last missing piece of the puzzle
of changing the world is the power of God. As a believer, you must understand
the need for the power of God in this world. We live in a very spiritual world;
there are spiritual forces and entities on the prowl at the snap of the
fingers.
It takes a greater spiritual force to
combat the evil forces at work in this world. However, you need a dynamic
relationship with the Holy Spirit of God before you can be endued with His
supernatural power!
Power is the dynamic ability to cause
changes…
In conclusion, you are destined to be
a world changer. Your destiny is to leave an indelible mark too difficult to
erase by the storms of time. However, you must accept responsibility to change
the world by first of all changing yourself, possessing a global vision,
developing multiple competencies, releasing your gifts and deploying the power
of God.
